Athens International Airport S.A.
(AIA) was established in 1996 as a Public-Private Partnership with a 30 year concession agreement. AIA is a privately managed company with the Greek State holding the 55% of shares, while the private shareholders collectively hold 45%
Thanks to its value-for-money services, Athens International Airport has earned numerous international awards and distinctions. The airport community employs over 13.000 peo0ple and hosts approximately 300 companies, making it one of the largest employment engines in Greece. A relevant study by Athens University of Economics and Business published in 2013, showed that AIA contributes to the national and local economy by 2.63% of the GDP.
iGuzzini was recently assigned the task to light the new designed circular ceiling that surrounds the Central Food Court in the Departures Level of the Main Terminal. For this project
180 Laser Blade Minimal
luminaires were installed to provide the general lighting of the area, enhanced by the products at the various bars making travellers’ waiting time more comfortable from a visual point of view.
The project is a clear example of how lighting devices can be used to divide space. In fact, the Laser Blade luminaires are installed in continuous files to create an original and elegant graphic effect and also to draw attention to the various sales points
